Amazon Appstore for Android – 31 Free Apps worth $100+ Right Now!

..Nope; no ‘Free App of The Day’… but how about 31 apps, free (retail $100+), for two days?

If you use an android device, you SHOULD know about the amazon app store. If you don’t know, Amazon Appstore for Android is awesome, but don’t look for it in the play store, its not available from Google’s play store, go to amazon.com/appstore and follow the steps

It’s convenient cuz its tied to your already existing amazon account; but that’s not the point, the best is the featured ‘Free App of the Day’, and randomly; on special occasions, and/or on holidays they do some crazy sh*t.

Today through tomorrow; Saturday, June 28th, they have a selection of Android apps ranging from games, utilities, and more, worth over $100 buckaroos all free; already on my phones and tablet ;] check it out: bit.ly/amazon-apps-100-offer

Heard about ‘Heartbleed’? Check your security…

LatPass

LastPass Now Checks If Your Sites Are Affected by Heartbleed

Yesterday we informed our community of the Heartbleed OpenSSL bug. In our blog post, we explained how this security issue impacted our service and what our users should know about the situation. We also built a tool to help our users start checking to see if their sites and services had reissued their certificates, so that users would know if it was safe to start updating passwords for those sites: https://lastpass.com/heartbleed

To help our users take action and protect themselves in the wake of Heartbleed, we’ve added a feature to our Security Check tool. LastPass users can now run the LastPass Security Check to automatically see if any of their stored sites and services were 1) Affected by Heartbleed, and 2) Should update their passwords for those accounts at this time.

The LastPass Security Check can be run from the LastPass Icon menu. Click the LastPass icon in the browser toolbar, click the Tools menu, and select the Security Check.

In the Security Check results, we alert you to sites affected by Heartbleed:

We will continue to update the Security Check recommendations based on which sites we have seen take action and where it is safe to update your passwords. We’ll monitor the situation in general and keep our community posted.

If you’re not using LastPass yet, now is the time to get started with organizing and managing your passwords, and use our tools to generate new passwords for your online accounts.

Update: April 10th, 2:29PM ET

Many users are still concerned about what the Heartbleed situation means for their LastPass master passwords. To further clarify, we do not see a need at this time for existing LastPass users to update their master passwords. That said, if you would prefer to, there is no harm in doing so. We continue to update our LastPass Security Check tool to provide you the latest information regarding potentially-impacted sites. Thanks to our community for the feedback and input.

Facebook Chat Gone! (from mobile) [soon] – Messenger

Want To Facebook Chat On Mobile? Now You’ll Need Facebook Messenger

Facebook is furthering it’s multi-app strategy by requiring all users to install Facebook Messenger in order to chat on mobile.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed to ReadWrite that users will start seeing notifications today describing the transition. Facebook mobile users will receive several notices before the change is fully implemented on both iOS and Android.

Facebook is eliminating messaging from the main Facebook mobile application because it is slow and doesn’t deliver the best messaging experience, according to the company.

This news was apparently a long time coming, however. Complaints as far back as fall 2013 call out Facebook’s unwanted attempts to force people to use Messenger.

Pocketnow Interviews PhoneBloks, Talks about the Vision and Philosophy for the Project and More

phonebloks-560560

Phonebloks is probably the most interesting concept we’ve ever seen, and it appears that Google agreed, since they had Motorola partner with them. And when they sold Motorola, they kept that part of the company in Mountain View. What Phonebloks is, is basically allowing you to build the perfect smartphone. That includes being able to switch out the camera module, the storage, the screen, the processor, everything. It’s basically a modular phone. Which we should see it this summer, which is going to be amazing. Our friends over at Pocketnow sat down with the creators of Phonebloks and they had a lot to say.

Phoneblocks talked about the vision and philosophy behind the idea that manufacturers and consumers should collaborate to create a unique ecosystem:

“The basic idea behind Phonebloks is creating a modular phone, so that when a part breaks you’d be able to replace it. At the time the idea was conceived, Dave Hakkens, the founder, was a design student working on his graduation project. He likes technology and he likes the environment. So, he thought he should do something to combine these two. Around that time his digital camera broke, and he decided to fix it on his own. He took the camera apart and saw that the lens motor was broken. But, he could not locate a replacement for that part in any repair shop nor when he talked to the manufacturer. Everyone simply told him to buy a new camera. He didn’t want a new camera though; he just needed that small component. Dave did some research and discovered that electronic waste streams are some of the fastest growing waste-streams in the world, with mobile phones being a big part of that. So, although at the beginning he thought about modularity for all kinds of tech, he decided to focus on mobile phones. This is how he came up with the Phonebloks concept.”

What’s interesting here is that the video that we all know and have probably watched a hundred times, was initially leaked onto Reddit, and it just blew up from there. It’s sitting at over 19 million views right now, which is pretty crazy. You can read the rest of the lengthy interview over at Pocketnow’s website.

Remember ‘Crazy Taxi’ Arcade Game?

So, I remember playing Crazy Taxi- in the mall arcade and in the theater arcade way back when and also on my Sega Genesis, -I think. Anyway, I’m obsessed right now with all the news and newest goodies from Google, Android, etc.. and I have always loved finding time to bring some nostalgia into my life – whichever form that may be. Those two together have just made a little portion of Mr. Famous even more the happy. If you didn’t know, Crazy Taxi has been available in the Google Play Store for awhile but it was like $4.99, -and screw that. But for the next few days, until 3/19/2014, the word ‘Free’ has been added to the game’s title. Why would they kick the price?

Well, first just hurry and grab the now-free Crazy Taxi from the Play Store, and I would suggest downloading and using an app backup utility (App Backup & Restore) so you will have a copy for future android devices and installs after the 100% off sale ends, and second, here’s why they kicked the price for a few days.. !!! 🙂

“Sega’s using this sale to draw attention to an upcoming entry in the franchise, Crazy Taxi: City Rush. That free-to-play title will introduce modern visuals, but it will also come with less desirable innovations, such as social network integration and in-game currency.” –[androidpolice.com]

MIUI, my next rom try out for my Android

The problem is a bug in a lot of 2.1 roms out there now.

The problem is a bug in a lot of 2.1 roms out there now.

There is a fix:

1) Go to dialer, put in *#*#4636#*#*

2) Press Phone Information

3) Press Menu, and pick Select Radio Band (ITS NORMAL TO GET A FORCE CLOSE)

4) Go down and change GSM Auto(PRL) to CDMA Auto (PRL)

The reason this is sucking battery is because the phone is connected using CDMA PRL but its set to GSM so its looking for a signal via SIM, which we don’t have.
